Goodnestone Park Mansion, Kent

Architect: Robert George Architects

Contractor: BW May & Son

The Goodnestone Park Estate is in Dover, Kent. The house dates back to 1704 and is surrounded by 15 acres of gardens. It is well known for its links with famous author Jane Austen; who was a frequent visitor to Goodnestone after her brother Edward married Elizabeth Bridges, the two times great granddaughter of the Estate’s founder Brook Bridges. It is believed that their wedding at Goodnestone Park inspired Jane Austen’s first novel, Pride & Prejudice.

In 2015 work began on an extensive programme of refurbishment at Goodnestone Park. This included repairs to the brick and stonework external elevations, the renewal of roof coverings, renewal and repairs to windows and doors, new bathroom and kitchen fittings, new flooring, and internal and external decorations. Works completed in May 2017.

D.R.Nolans were proud to provide full quantity surveying services on this project.
