The Old Laundry Cottage, Knole

Architect: A&RME Architects

‘The Old Laundry Cottage’ is part of the estate at Knole House, in Sevenoaks, Kent. Knole is one of England’s largest houses, occupying a total of four acres, and dating back to the mid-15th century. The house saw much development over the following centuries, making its architecture primarily Jacobean in style, but with elements that date from the late middle ages right through to the Stuart period. The building is Grade 1 listed and is surrounded by a 1,000-acre park that has been home to a wild deer herd for at least the last 500 years.

As part of an ongoing refurbishment and restoration programme, The Old Laundry Cottage required a number of external repairs, including repairs to the Kentish ragstone walls, re-pointing of the stonework and brick work, repairs to roofing, gutters and rainwater pipes, new render to the internal face of the parapet and windows, and stripping out internally.

D.R.Nolans were proud to provide full post contract services on this project.
